Kartik Utsav, also known as Kartik Deepotsav or the “Festival of Lights,” is one of the most cherished celebrations at the Vrindavan Heritage Tower. The month of Kartik is considered highly auspicious in the scriptures. Kartik Utsav unfolds as a month-long celebration, marked by several significant festivals. Also called the Damodara Month, it remembers the sweet childhood pastime of Lord Krishna being bound to a mortar by Mother Yashoda. During this time, festivals such as Sharad Purnima, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Gopashtami are joyfully observed. Vrindavan Heritage Tower organises several cultural and spiritual events throughout the month, including Nauka Vihar in the River Yamuna, Shobha Yatra within the campus, and Deepotsava. Every day, a Vishesh Kartik Puja and Deepdaan, the offering of ghee lamps by visitors seeking blessings, were performed for Sri Radha Vrindavanchandra, the presiding Deities of Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir. The Utsava Deities also received Nauka Vihar in Chandrodaya Sarovar as Antarvedi Nauka Vihar and later enjoyed the graceful boat ride in the revered River Yamuna as Bahirvedi Nauka Vihar. The Disappearance Day of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada was also observed during this sacred month. The celebrations conclude with grand sankirtans and the final day festival of Kartik Purnima. Kartik Utsav remains a special highlight of Vrindavan, bringing everyone closer to the spirit of devotion and the joy of shared moments.
